Due to the weather, conditioning is canceled today. If the weather clears up, run on your own at home.
Just a reminder that tryouts are on Friday. You DO NOT have to have attended conditioning in order to tryout, but I encourage you to attend conditioning tomorrow if possible. Thanks, Coach Brainerd Parents, I apologize for any confusion caused in today's cancellation. It did not get announced to students like I thought it would be. In the future if practice is canceled, students will be notified via announcement before dismissal. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Once we begin actual practice, I will keep an e-mail list and utilize the Remind texts to notify you of last minute changes like this. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility!

There are some updates to the schedule I want to make you aware of. We will no longer be attending the Sept. 29th meet (Henry Horton Invitational in Chapel Hill) due to the Rutherford Co. Championship taking place on Tuesday, September 25th. This will be our only mid-week meet. Hopefully this also alleviates some fall break planning stress!
Coach Brainerd During the first week of school, conditioning will continue. It will take place at school from 3:30-4:45pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (August 6th, 8th, and 9th). On Monday, meet Coach Brainerd at the front of the school. On Wednesday and Thursday, students should meet at Coach Brainerd's room (701) after dismissal. Please continue to bring a water bottle to conditioning!
Tryouts will be held on Friday, August 10th after school. Any student in grades 6-8 with all the completed sports forms (physical, etc.) will be eligible to tryout. (Note: You do not have to have attended conditioning to tryout.) Meet Coach Brainerd at her room (701) after dismissal. We will use the track at BHS to run a mile and a half (approx. 6 laps). Parents, please pick-up your child by 4:30pm from the high school. Students who make the team will be announced Friday evening. If your child makes the team, there will be a parent meeting on Monday, August 13th following practice at 5:15pm. Due to inclement weather, conditioning for today (Monday, July 30th) is canceled. If the weather clears up, I encourage you to run on your own at home for 25 minutes.
Conditioning will resume as scheduled on Wednesday. -Coach Brainerd The About page has been updated with the tentative schedule for meets. Practice information as well as the fee is forthcoming. I will update this by the end of this week.

Conditioning is not required. Come to any or all that you are available. Coming to conditioning does not guarantee you a spot on the team. (This will be determined by tryouts.) Parents, you are welcome to stay for conditioning or drop your child off and return at the ending time. Make sure your child has plenty of water! Also, before attending conditioning, a physical MUST be completed. You can either have it uploaded into the Dragonfly system or bring a paper copy to Coach Brainerd at conditioning. If you have any additional questions about physicals, see the About page on this website or contact Mr. Festervand at BMS. I am looking forward to meeting you! Let me know if you have any additional questions by filling out the contact form on the blog or e-mailing me at my school e-mail address ([email protected]) Thanks, Coach Brainerd Thanks for visiting the BMS Cross Country Website!
