Tryouts for all athletes (incoming BMS students, current BMS students, and 2019 team members) will take place NEXT WEEK Wednesday, June 3rd to Friday, June 5th with two time slots per date. There is a limit of 9 students per time slot in order to decrease the amount of people gathered. Please sign your student up for one slot on any day that best fits your schedule. Each day the tryout slots will be 9:00-10:00am and 10:30-11:30am. If all slots are filled, there will be additional times created.
Needed for tryouts:
Tryouts will take place at the back of BMS in the back parking lot/back of cafeteria (the location of the car rider line drop-off). Parents, please park in that parking lot to drop off your student. Before leaving, please ensure your student has been cleared by Coach Brainerd to tryout (due to paperwork). Due to county guidelines, parents may not stay to spectate. Don't forget to sign up by clicking the button below. Additional questions? Email Coach Brainerd! Tryout dates and specifics are forthcoming. Times and dates should be announced by the beginning of next week.
In the meantime, you need to get tryout ready! I have outlined the steps below: 1. Visit the "Parent Info" page to download the 2020 athletic physical packet. 2. Download the physical packet and complete the pages. There are places for both parents and students to sign. 3. Have a healthcare professional (MD, DO, NP, or PA) complete and sign the Physical Examination Form. Remember, it MUST be dated on or after April 15, 2020. 4. If you do not have a DragonflyMax account, create one and upload the appropriate documents. Some documents may be electronically signed on Dragonfly and therefore you may not need you to scan/take a photo. (The first page of the packet gives you directions for creating and logging into a Dragonfly account.) The Blackman MS code is RYZU7P 5. Upload a Bus Zone Verification Form. (You can do this by visiting this link and entering your address.) Take a screenshot or print and scan the form to Dragonfly. 6. Upload a recent utility bill. This can be water, electricity, or a rental agreement. This should be uploaded to Dragonfly under "Current Utility Bill." Note: The "Proof of Residence" section on Dragonfly is where the form with the same title from the packet should be uploaded. This is not where you upload the utility bill/rental agreement. Do not hesitate to reach out to Coach Brainerd with questions! [email protected] Per RCS, athletics may resume beginning June 1st. More information regarding tryouts will be coming soon. Check regularly for updates.
To tryout students will need a physical dated on or after April 15, 2020. This entire packet must be completed and uploaded to DragonflyMax. See the "Parent Info" page for details. COVID-19 Updates:
Spring conditioning and tryouts have been postponed until further notice. Once the Rutherford County Board of Education sends information about when practices, tryouts, etc. can resume for fall sports, the website will be updated. At this time we do not know when tryouts/practices in the summer will resume. We are not telling/asking anyone to go get a sports physical at this time. A decision to go get a sports physical is left up to each individual's family as to when they feel it is safe. I have created an e-mail list with the e-mail addresses given at tonight's meeting. If you did not receive an e-mail from me, just send me an e-mail asking to be added to the list.
I will update this page again with information for the meet by Thursday night. Thanks for you do to support your students, BMS, and cross country! -Coach Brainerd For clarification, the parents' meeting will be TONIGHT at 5:15pm in the library. If your child tried out for cross country yesterday, then they are on the team. :) Please also bring the fee.
We will have our first practice today as well directly after school. Students may also stay for the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please e-mail Coach Brainerd. Thanks! Due to the unpredictable thunderstorms of the past few days and tomorrow, tryouts have been postponed until Monday, August 13th. They will still take place from 3:30-4:15pm at the track at the high school. Parents, you can pick up your child from the high school beginning at 4:15. Please pick up your child by 4:30pm.
For tryouts, students will still run 1.5 miles on the track (6 laps). Because of postponed tryouts, the parents' meeting will now be on Tuesday evening after the first practice at 5:15. (I will announce the location at tryouts for students and post it on here later.) Additionally, I have created a Twitter account for the team to post quick updates. Whatever I post there will also be posted here, but I can update that account much faster. The Twitter handle is @BlackmanMid_XC And as always, feel free to e-mail me! Parents and students,
Due to the scattered thunderstorms today, conditioning is canceled for this afternoon. We are still planning for tryouts to be tomorrow afternoon. Coach Brainerd |
